Just finished up in New Orleans a great time was had by all, to say the least. The people in NOLA really dug what we were doing and we definitely caused a stir wherever we went. One thing is for sure after seeing all the performances of the new material is that we have some really great products coming. This is something I am really excited about. I don’t want to spill the beans but we got some really killer mentalism coming and some super commercial close up material coming too. Probably somewhere in the area of 30 effects came from the NOLA sessions so you can expect a wealth of awesome material coming your way.

We are in the van on our way to the city of New Orleans to stay in a house with 5 magicians and their companions for the purpose of inspiration, filming and I hear this place has somewhat of a party scene. Why New Orleans? Well to create mystery I think you should be in a place that inspires mystery. What better place than NOLA a city known for its roots in voodoo and the dark arts. A city that is the birthplace for jazz and is the Mecca of street performers. It’s a Mecca in a sense that a pilgrimage to Mecca is not easy, so the competition will be stiff. We are going to see if “street magic” is relevant in a city of top notch entertainment and half naked girls walking in the streets.

The Convention tour continues this time we stopped in Pigeon Forge for the Winter Carnival Of Magic. Pigeon Forge was the strangest place I have ever seen. One attendee called it the marriage of Las Vegas and The Waffle House. Trinkets, Airbrush T-Shirts, and As Seen On TV stores for as long as the eye can see. The strange thing is with all the campyness of Pigeon Forge it has the beauty of the Smoky Mountains to balance out all the cheese.
The first thing I noticed about the magicians in Tennessee is that people from Tennessee are extremely kind. Another pleasant discovery was that the magicians all seemed to share in the same community. They all seemed to know each and shared in having a common respect for not only each other but also for the ring.
Overall it was a really great convention and I am definitely looking forward to going next year. Spin and Universal Impression was a big hit at the convention and we introduced a lot of new folks to the Paper Crane Magic community. Big ups to Zeke, Jon Dee and my man Pan for being awesome friends/tour guides.
